Air-e interim manager Ramiro Castilla told a Colombian Senate public hearing that energy consumption in informal electrical settlements served by the utility is over 20% higher than general regional and national demand trends.

The remarks were delivered before the Senate Fifth Commission, which held its national energy balance hearing in Barranquilla on 22 October 2026.

Representatives from government, congress and the energy industry attended the session.
